A person reads your application before the IRS does.

Most EIN rejections come from a handful of avoidable mistakes, name conflicts, responsible-party mismatches, wrong entity selections. A filing specialist checks yours against all of them before anything is submitted.

  • Entity details verified against IRS rules
  • Name-conflict check before filing
  • Refiled free if the IRS kicks it back

Questions

Asked before you had to ask.

Is this the IRS? Is this an official government website?+

No, and we want that to be completely clear. Standard Filings is a private filing service operated by Standard Business Services LLC. We are not affiliated with the IRS or any government agency. You can apply for an EIN yourself, for free, at irs.gov. Our fee is for preparing your application, filing it for you, and standing behind the work.

What exactly do I get for $99?+

A specialist prepares your SS-4 application from your answers, checks it against the IRS rules that commonly cause rejections (name conflicts, responsible-party issues, entity mismatches), files it with the IRS as your authorized third-party designee, and emails you your EIN with a banking-ready confirmation after IRS issuance.

How fast will I get my EIN?+

We prepare and file during IRS business hours and email your EIN as soon as it's issued, most online-eligible orders complete quickly, but timing varies with IRS system availability. Fax filings, including no-SSN/ITIN cases, take roughly 1–3 weeks.

What if I don't have an SSN or ITIN?+

We can still help. Applications without a responsible party SSN or ITIN can't use the IRS's online system, so we prepare and fax your SS-4 instead. The IRS takes roughly 1–3 weeks to process fax applications, we set that expectation up front, before you pay.

What is an EIN, and do I need one?+

An EIN (Employer Identification Number) is a nine-digit federal tax ID the IRS assigns to your business. You'll generally need one to open a business bank account, hire employees, file business taxes, or form an LLC or corporation that elects certain tax treatments.

What if my filing can't be completed?+

You get a full refund. If the IRS rejects the application for something we can fix, we fix it and refile at no charge. See our money-back guarantee for the details.

EIN basics

EIN: what should you know?

What is an EIN?

A nine-digit federal tax ID the IRS assigns to a business, think of it as your company's Social Security number. Banks, payroll providers, and tax forms all run on it.

Does your business need one?

Almost certainly. You'll need an EIN to open a business bank account, hire anyone, file business taxes, or make an S-corp or C-corp election. Even solo owners get one to keep their SSN off W-9s.

Can you get one yourself?

Yes, directly from the IRS at irs.gov, free. We say that plainly because it's true. The IRS's own tool has business-hour windows, 15-minute session timeouts, and government-form language.

So why use Standard Filings?

The same reason you'd hire any professional service: a specialist prepares it, catches the mistakes that cause rejections, files as your authorized designee, and stands behind the work with a guarantee.

Prepared and filed with support.

Five minutes of questions, then it's our job.
